My Trip to Miyajima

My first view of the island.
There were deer roaming Miyajima too. Some had some frightening antlers.
A shot of the 'rents.
The famous torii gate in the water. Supposed to be one of the three most beautiful sights in Japan.
And with the parents.
The temple associated with the torii gate.
The gate head on.
My parents and me on the gondola riding up to the top of the mountain.
An outside view of the sky cars.
I loved these signs. "We do not hope to be such a monkey!"
Someone made a cute little snowman along the trail to the peak.
There were some rickety steps heading up to the top. This trail was damaged during the typhoon in 2004. It had been repaired enough to climb by this trip, but there was still damage.
My parents, proving that we made it at least halfway up.
My mom ringing the bell at a shrine.
A pile of stones.
The side of the mountain.
Hiroshima, as seen from Miyajima Island.
A little shrine inside a cave made of fallen rocks.
Some evidence of typhoon damage.
This from the peak.
Another direction.
And another.
And another.
And another.
When we got back to the gondola station, the monkeys were back from feeding in the forest.
They were every bit as loud and obnoxious as you'd expect.
We even saw some tiny ones.
