Sapporo Snow Festival 2006

I liked this light display surrounded by colorful ice animals in front of the clock tower.
Let that eeeeagle soar...
A green ice Angkor Wat
One of the biggest snow sculptures was for the upcoming movie Narnia. Bear in mind, this was some time after the US release. It didn't come out in Japan until March 3rd. There was also a laser show at this sculpture, but I didn't see it.
Okinawa had a large sculpture too, featuring popular golfer Ai Miyasato.
I forget what this is a sculpture of, actually, but I liked the colors.
WARNING: Giant noses may inhale your belongings.
Here's the Narnia sculpture in daylight... and covered with advertising! Well, it is an advertisement, so I guess it works.
Unfortunately, just about every large sculpture was being used as a stage for some company or other. It made pictures difficult.
Chocobo!
A real emperor penguin.
You got something to say to me? Ahhh, ya bum.
Would you stick a cigarette butt in the snowman that your child built? I love the time estimate for various stages of snowman building too.
A lit cigarette is carried at the height of a child's face.
That's a replica of the governmental seat of Hokkaido here in Sapporo.
Cheese, Grommit!
Ah... not advertising! A taiko performance in front of a replica of a temple.
The performers at rest.
Totoro
Haado Gay desu!
Gremlins
Exit, this way.
The Daibutsu
Cool butterfly
An owl built by a team from Portland, Oregon, Sapporo's sister city.
This one was built by Canadians. Description in the next picture.
And here it is.
Buddah
Ummmmm.....
Yeah... rocket... right.
And this one appears to be a care bear riding Hard Gay.
This is from some anime that I've never seen, but it looks cool.
This was found in an arcade and was just... disturbing.
