This is a cool arch on the way to the pillar below. It's located in the middle of a park golf course, which is sort of a bastard child of normal golf and mini golf. You only have one club - a mallet/putter thing - and the ball is fairly large. There are no greens and holes are about 100m at most. |
Here's another shot of the arch. You can see the point clearer in this one. |
And here's the pillar, complete with blue birds |
Here's the plaque at the base of the pillar. No, I can't translate that. |
Here's a cool mural of swans on the stairs leading down to the lake. If Hamatonbetsu has a mascot, it's definitely the swan. Sculptures, images, and banners with swans are everywhere, even on light posts and man hole covers. |
This one's on the next landing down on the same staircase. |
And here's a sign in front of the lake itself |
Here's one of the many mosaics on the sidewalk |
...and here it is without the flash. The lights blink, so the timing for this one was tricky. Still looks cool though. |
Here's the map in front of the lake in winter |
The pole-and-dock combination in winter, complete with swans taking off from the lake |
The other side of the lake has many monuments too |
I don't know what this one is for |
I like the little dogwood in front of this one. It only blooms for a short time though |
There's one other visitor's center at the lake which is visited less often. This is the sign near it |
And there's some nice sidewalk art too |
Here's the far visitor center at sunset |
