Here we are preparing the coals. It took a lot of fanning to get those things hot enough. |
3-5 people per grill was the norm |

There are the college students from Asahikawa, coming out to Hamaton as part of the studying for their education degrees |
An unintended group shot. |
Ah Engrish. Glorious unintended humor. |

Some kids and college students eating |

Group shot. It was a sunny day, but windy (as per usual) so the green jackets were handed out to those without their own. |
I think the ones in green jackets are actually from Hamatonbetsu highschool. The red jackets are definitely from Asahikawa though. |
The seafood grill. I didn't spend much time here. |
Once the grill master gave the go-ahead, the rush for food turned into a free-for-all. Especially when there were ramen noodles on the grill. Those things are tasty. |
Not sure why I have a picture of him eating cake, but here it is for your enjoyment. |
And we got them to pose eventually. I like how the cake wrapper makes it look like he's splattering cake bits everywhere. |
Another group dessert shot. |
Ainoyama-san's grill was the best (he's the guy in gray at the end of the grill. |

A statue of Buddah inside the temple |
After dinner, it's homework time. |
And then, fireworks! Only sparklers though. |
Me with a bunch of the college students and red, red eyes. |
More hot sparkler action |
This was the easiest way to light a new one |
Overhead shot |
I love the lighting effects on this one |
One last, less impressive shot |
